Contact the desk

The desk reads three kinds of message. A person reads every one; nothing is answered automatically. The form below is not live yet, and until it is, there is no channel to the desk.

What the desk reads

Corrections

If the desk got a fact, a figure, a citation or a weight wrong, say which line and show the source. Corrections matter. The method prints them.

Tips, with sources

A tip without a source is a rumor. Say what happened, where you saw it, and how it can be checked.

Pattern submissions

A passage you think bears on a story, with its citation: the work, the chapter and verse or line, and the edition you read.

What happens to a message

A person reads it. No bot sorts it and no autoresponder replies to it.

A correction that holds up is printed; that is the method, not a courtesy. A tip is only as good as its sources, and the desk checks them before it acts. A pattern submission is weighed like any other: the passage, the citation, and whether it actually bears on the story.

Corrections and the method

How corrections are made is part of the method, and the method has its own board on the forum: The Method. Membership opens at launch.

Name Email — so the desk can write back Subject — correction, tip, or pattern Message — for a correction, quote the line and give the source

Nothing on this page sends, collects or stores anything. The desk has no email address on this site. If you see one claiming to be the desk's, it did not come from here.
